oil paintings by robert hooke
"There is a distinct joy in painting on location, where the immediate en plein air studies I create often serve as the foundation for larger studio works. My approach to landscape painting is entirely rooted in direct observation—immersing myself fully in the environment to translate real-time visual information onto the canvas. Because nature is constantly shifting, my focus is always on capturing the fleeting qualities of natural light, weather, and shadow. To keep pace with these elements, I work in a highly spontaneous style. Creating pieces quickly in a single sitting (alla prima) allows me to channel the urgency of the moment into loose, energetic brushwork."
